The football department of Thalheimer SV Tanne , founded in 1912, operated from 1920 in the area of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the first-class Gauliga Erzgebirge . Participation in the first-class Gauliga Sachsen from 1933 onwards did not take place.

In 1945 Tanne Thalheim was dissolved and re-established as SG Thalheim . The loose sports group appeared in the 1948/49 season for a season in the Landesliga Sachsen ( SBZ ), in which a fifth place was achieved.

In the following period, the company sports association appeared under the names Vorwärts Thalheim , 3 Tannen Thalheim , progress Thalheim , and with the entry of the carrier company VEB Strumpfkombinat ESDA , as ESDA Thalheim . In terms of sport, the BSG acted with the dissolution of the states and the simultaneous establishment of the districts from 1953 in the third-class district league Karl-Marx-Stadt , which was held with interruptions until the turnaround. There was no realistic chance for the Ore Mountains to rise to the GDR League or GDR League II . The possible qualification for the first main round of the FDGB-Pokal missed progress Thalheim in the final of the FDGB-district cup on June 8, 1974 in Burgstädt by a 0-3 defeat against the clearly favored BSG progress Krumhermersdorf .

In 1990 the club was renamed Tanne Thalheim again and played in the Sachsenliga for a decade . This was followed by three relegations to the district league. The current league since 2011 has been the Landesklasse West (previously the Chemnitz District League, West Staffel).

In 2012 the footballers celebrated their 100th anniversary with a 10-day festival week. The highlight was the second division FC Erzgebirge Aue in front of 1750 spectators in the Waldstadion on Stadtbadstrasse.

At the end of the 2014/15 season they were already relegated as 14th in the table. But since Reichenbacher FC followed BSC Rapid Chemnitz from the regional class West into the regional league Saxony as the best second of all regional class relays, SV Tanne Thalheim remained in the regional class West.

At the end of the 2018/19 season, after a total of eight years of membership, they were relegated from this league as fifth from last of 16 teams, and only one year later with the best quotient of all games of the eligible teams from the Erzgebirge district league, the season was due to the Corona- Pandemic canceled prematurely, to return again.

statistics

Swimming department

The swimming department has its roots in the Thalheim swimming club, which was founded in 1902, and was mainly continued in the form of a company sports association during the GDR's existence. Since 1990 the Thalheimer swimmers have been an integral part of SV Tanne Thalheim in the form of a separate department.

Ski Sports Department

Winter sports have a long tradition in Thalheim. In addition to cross-country skiing, ski jumping was also carried out on its own ski jump until the 1960s. Today there are training groups for cross-country skiing. Its members regularly take part in regional competitions with the children's and youth department and in international fun runs for adults, such as B. the ridge run in the Ore Mountains and the Wasalauf in Sweden. There is also an active alpine group that operates a training lift in Thalheim.

Volleyball department

As early as the 1970s, volleyball fans met on a field in one of the two new development areas in Thalheim to pursue this sport. After the reunification, the hobby volleyball players at SV Tanne were integrated into the gymnastics department. The Thalheimer Butterflies have been in the league game since 1998. The number of members increased steadily, especially after the turn of the millennium, and so the decision was made in 2006 to found a department itself.

The following four teams are currently in league play: a women's team in the Chemnitz district league of the Saxon Volleyball Association, a men's team each in the Ore Mountains League and the 1st Ore Mountains Class in the Erzgebirge volleyball sports district and a mixed team in the Ore Mountains League in the VSKE. The home games of the women's and the first men's team take place in the athletes' home on Stollberger Straße. The second men's team and the mixed team are the hosts at home games in the primary school gym on Kantstrasse. Since 2012, the two men's teams have been contesting the league game together with TSV Brünlos , so that SG Thalheim / Brünlos was created.

After the department had 53 members in 2012, this number is now decreasing every year. The main reason for this is the lack of offspring due to the closure of the Drei-Tannen-Gymnasium and the no longer existing volleyball club in the secondary school. In January 2015 the department had 23 members.

Greatest successes:

  • 2005 Men I - season champion in the then district class (now Erzgebirgsliga).
  • 2008 Women - Participation in the national final of the popular and recreational sports cup in Naunhof and subsequently voted “Team of the Year” by the readers of the Free Press .
