The wrestling club Thalheim is a Saxon sports club from Thalheim in the Ore Mountains , whose first wrestling team fought in the 1st Bundesliga East until 2011 . After the Bundesliga withdrawal, the club started in the Regionalliga Mitteldeutschland from 2012 and again in the 2nd Bundesliga North from September 2013.
Club structure
RV Thalheim currently has 226 members (as of January 2016). The board consists of the first chairman Holger Hähnel, the second chairman Karsten vom Scheidt, treasurer Susann Zierold, the youth warden Tino Korb and the secretary Sebastian Müller. From the founding of the association until July 1, 2008, André Schmidt held the office of 1st chairman.
history
The club was founded as the successor to the wrestling department of SV Tanne Thalheim on February 15, 2001. The origins of wrestling in Thalheim go back to 1903. On December 18th of that year the athletes club "Jung Siegfried" was founded. In the course of the forced dissolution of this club belonging to the workers' sports movement, the sports club "Olympia" Thalheim was founded in 1932. After the Second World War , it was not until 1962 before wrestling was again practiced in an organized framework in Thalheim. The re-establishment took place in the wrestling section of the company sports community "Progress" Thalheim. In 1990, the "Tanne" Thalheim sports club, the largest sports club in the former Stollberg district , was founded.
Sporting successes
Until 2011, the Thalheim wrestling team was the only Saxon team that had been in the Bundesliga without interruption since 1991. After 15 years in the 2nd Bundesliga , he was promoted to the 1st Ringer Bundesliga in 2006 . After the 2011/12 season, the team voluntarily withdrew from the House of Lords and was incorporated into the Regionalliga Mitteldeutschland. In 2013 he was promoted back to the 2nd Bundesliga North. In July 2016, Thalheim wrestler Emilie Haase became European cadet champion in Stockholm.
