The SV Lipsia 1893 eV Eutritzsch is a Leipzig football club from the Eutritzsch district . The club, founded on February 1, 1893, is the oldest football club in Saxony and one of the founding clubs of the DFB .

history

Lipsia from Eutritzsch was founded on February 1st, 1893 by apprentices from a Leipzig company as the “Lipsia football club” in the Gohlis restaurant “Zur Mühle”, making it the oldest Saxon football club. A short time later, she started playing. The first games were played on the parade ground in Gohlis . In 1897 Lipsia joined the Leipzig Ball Game Association . In 1913 the association was able to lease a piece of land from the Eutritzsch church and convert it into a football field. The Lipsia managed to establish itself in Saxon football after the war. From 1919 onwards, a steadily growing number of members was recorded.

After the Second World War , the Lipsia's training and sports grounds were relocated to Thaerstrasse, where it can still be found today. In the course of the dissolution of all civil associations in the Soviet occupation zone , the Lipsia from Eutritzsch was dissolved. It was not until 1959 that the "BSG Eutritzsch Unit" was created as a direct successor to Lipsia. In the German Democratic Republic , the BSG Eutritzsch unit was granted only moderate football success. They stayed in regional leagues and received only local attention. It was not until 1989 that the new name “BSG Baufa Eutritzsch” was able to win the Leipzig city championship and thus secure promotion to the district class. Even after reunification , the Eutritzsch football club was able to continue its upswing, albeit under the new name SSV Baufa Eutritzsch. In the 1990/91 season, they were promoted to the Leipzig district league.

On February 1, 1993 the club was renamed SV Lipsia Leipzig-Eutritzsch in view of the club's centenary. With this name they wanted to pick up on old times. After relegation in the meantime, Lipsia played from 2005 in the Leipzig district class (9th league).

After years of narrowly failing promotion to the district league, the long-awaited promotion to the district league succeeded in the 2010/11 season. SV Lipsia played there for a total of five years before they were promoted to the Sachsenliga for the first time in the club's history in the 2016/17 season . Decisive for the promotion was a draw on the penultimate matchday against the direct pursuer VfK Blau-Weiß Leipzig. Direct relegation followed after the 2017/18 season .
