The Leipzig Ball Game Association (VLBV) was a local football association for the Saxon city of Leipzig and the surrounding area. The VLBV was founded on July 7, 1896 in the Casino Zum Rosenthal Leipzig .

The founding members were the Leipzig BC 1893 , FC Wacker 1895 Leipzig , VfB Leipzig (1893) and the department for movement games of the Leipziger Finkenschaft . Oscar Büttner (LBC) became the first chairman. Later the clubs Sport, Sportbrüder and FC Lipsia 1893 Leipzig joined, the latter was still a member of the German Football and Cricket Association (DFCB) at the time the association was founded .

In the fall of 1896 the championship games began. But it was decided in January 1897 to skip the second half of the season and to start again in a spring and autumn round, i.e. to play after the calendar year. LBC, FC Wacker, FC Lipsia and VfB took part in this new round of points. The first champion was the Leipziger BC 1893 in 1897. This was able to successfully defend his title in the following playing years in 1898 and 1899. In 1899, FC Olympia Leipzig also took part in the championship. On December 31, 1899, the VLBV team played against the DFCB (1: 3). The championship of the 1900 season was won by FC Wacker. On December 7, 1900, Leipzig BC 1893 temporarily resigned from the association.

On the association day of February 5, 1901, the Gau "Nordwestsachsen" was created within the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV) for the championship of the 1901/02 season , in which the clubs from Leipzig and the surrounding area and from neighboring Halle (Saale) were summarized. The Association of Leipzig Ball Game Clubs continued to exist and organized the game.

In the 1904/05 season a point round was carried out in seven divisions. In this game year, numerous teams took part in both the championship of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs and that of the Leipzig Ball Game Clubs. If the teams met in both associations, they only played once and the result was counted for both classes.

In 1898 the VLBV had five associations with 100 members, in 1900 there were 11 associations with 420 members and in 1905 there were already 26 associations with 2022 members. On June 22, 1905, the Leipzig Ball Game Association dissolved and became the Gau Nordwestsachsen eV in the Association of Central German Ball Game Associations.
