society
Germania Mittweida was founded on May 16, 1897 as a football club under the name FC Germania Mittweida . In its first game on May 11, 1899, FC Germania lost to Mittweidaer BC 2: 3. The club took part in the championship of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs , in which the Saxons won the championship of the Gau Südwestsachsen in 1909. In the associated qualification for the Central German Championship, Germania lost 4-2 to the clearly favored VfB Leipzig in the quarter-finals .
After the merger or syndicate from 1925-1930 with SC Hellas in 1908 Chemnitz , the club played in the 1a class in the Central Saxony district.
In 1944, Germania Mittweida merged with local rivals Mittweidaer BC to form KSG Mittweida , which was part of the field for the Gauliga Sachsen in 1944/45 . In 1945 the KSG was dissolved and re-established as SG Mittweida . The sports group took part in the Chemnitz soccer championship in 1948, but could not qualify for the national class introduced in 1949 with 4th place in their relay. In 1952 the SG had already been converted into the BSG unit Mittweida , and the soccer section was one of the founding members of the third-rate district league Karl-Marx-Stadt . With the exception of 1959 (temporary relegation), she was represented there until 1964. Later, unit only played below the district league level. In 1990 the BSG was replaced by the newly founded association with the historical name SV Germania Mittweida . Since their descent in 1996, the first soccer team has played in the Chemnitz district class, and since 2008 the 8th league. In 2008 the soccer department of SV Germania started with two men's teams, one women's team and eight junior teams.
In the 2011/12 season, the first men's team made it to the regional league of Saxony center, today's state class center, without losing a season.
