society

FC Concordia Schneeberg was founded in 1909 under the name Concordia Schneeberg . The club played from 1912 to 1914 in the Gauliga Erzgebirge , one of the then numerous first-class leagues of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs . In 1913/14 , the club won the Gauliga and thus qualified for the Central German football finals, in which Schneeberg was eliminated in the first round after a clear 0-14 defeat against Chemnitzer BC . After the First World War, the association no longer appeared nationwide.

In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Schneeberg . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was renamed Wismut Schneeberg again with the entry of the Wismut sports association and the local SDAG Wismut .

At the sporting level, Wismut Schneeberg was initially represented in the district class area, and in the 1961/62 season rose together with unit Mittweida for the first time in the then fourth-class district league Karl-Marx-Stadt . The Wismut only held the top division of the district for three seasons, and there was no realistic chance of promotion to the 2nd GDR League . Already in 1964 the relegation took place with TSG Rodewisch .

In the 1956 season, the Erzgebirge also took part in the FDGB Cup for the first time. After victories over Motor Sonneberg and Motor Neustadt (Orla), Wismut Schneeberg lost 6-0 to SC Empor Rostock in the second main round . In 1959, the Saxons failed in the qualification at Motor Sonneberg .

In the period that followed, the BSG acted without exception in the insignificance of GDR football, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Schneeberg played in the Landesliga Sachsen for three seasons from 2001 to 2004 . The current division of the club, which was renamed Concordia Schneeberg in 1991, is the state class West .
