The FSV Limbach-Oberfrohna is a German football club from Limbach-Oberfrohna in the district of Zwickau . Home is the Waldstadion . The club is in the tradition of BSG Progress Limbach-Oberfrohna .

The FSV Limbach-Oberfrohna was founded in 1909 under the name 1. Limbacher Sport Club 09 . Until 1945, the club was always under-class within Central German football, and no participation in the Gauliga Sachsen or in the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs took place.

In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Limbach . In the period that followed, the loose sports group was renamed BSG Trikot Limbach with the entry of the carrier company VEB Feinwash , with the subsequent incorporation into the sport association progress in BSG progress Limbach-Oberfrohna .

On a sporting level, progress Limbach was initially represented in the district class area, and in the 1959 season rose to the then fourth-class district league Karl-Marx-Stadt for the first time together with Wismut Stollberg , progress Crimmitschau and HSG Wissenschaft Freiberg . Progress Limbach-Oberfrohna initially held the highest division in the district until 1968, and there was no realistic chance of promotion to the II. GDR League or GDR League . 1986 succeeded again in the return to the district league, which progress together with SG Sosa and Chemie Glauchau had to leave after only one season. In the 1949/50 season Trikot Limbach took part once in the FDGB Cup , in which it lost 3-1 to KWU Erfurt in the first main round .

In 1988 the football section was briefly merged with local rivals Motor Limbach-Oberfrohna . In 1991 the club separated again, with the football department starting in 1993 again as FSV Limbach-Oberfrohna . Since then, FSV Limbach-Oberfrohna has played without exception in the local area, the current division is the Zwickau regional league .
