The TV Oberfrohna 1862 is a German sports club from Limbach-Oberfrohna / Oberfrohna district in the district of Zwickau . Home is the sports field at the Jahnhaus . The club is in the tradition of BSG Motor Limbach-Oberfrohna .

Football section

TV Oberfrohna was founded as a gymnastics club in 1862, and in 1910 the football department in TV was founded under the name SC Germania Oberfrohna . Until 1945, the club was always under-class within Central German football, and no participation in the Gauliga Sachsen or in the finals of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs took place.

In 1945 the association was dissolved and re-established as SG Oberfrohna . In the period that followed, with the entry of the Motor Sports Association from 1949 , the loose sports group was renamed BSG Motor Oberfrohna , and later Motor Limbach-Oberfrohna .

On a sporting level, Motor Oberfrohna was initially represented in the district class area, and in the 1958 season rose to the then fourth-class district league Karl-Marx-Stadt for the first time together with Aufbau Aue-Bernsbach , Motor Zschopau and activist “Grube Deutschland” Oelsnitz . Motor Limbach-Oberfrohna held the top division of the district with a brief interruption until 1984, and there was no realistic chance of promotion to the 2nd GDR League or GDR League . The best placement was a third place behind the second representation of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt and Motor West Karl-Marx-Stadt in the 1966/67 season.

From the 1954/55 season Motor Limbach Oberfrohna took part in the FDGB Cup three times . After victories over FSV Lok Dresden and BSG Chemie Leipzig , Limbach-Oberfrohna surprisingly reached the second main round in 1980/81, losing to FC Karl-Marx-Stadt with 0: 7. In the period that followed, the BSG operated without exception in the Karl-Marx-Städter district class area. In 1988, the football section was merged with local rivals Progress Limbach-Oberfrohna and for a short time also acted under their name. In 1990 the club was renamed TV Oberfrohna again , with the football department starting up independently again from 1991. Since then, TV Oberfrohna has been playing in the local area without exception, the current division is the Zwickau regional league .
