The BSG Motor Zschopau is a German football club from Zschopau in the Ore Mountains . Home of the 120-member club is the stadium in the sand pit .

Motor Zschopau was founded on November 19, 1919 as 1. Zschopauer FC . After the local rival and workers' sports club SpVgg. "Frei Sport" Zschopau was forcibly dissolved in 1933, several players joined the ZFC. The Erzgebirge did not make it into the Gauliga Sachsen until 1945, but were able to celebrate successes in the cup against higher-class teams (including Planitzer SC and Konkordia Plauen ).
After the war, Zschopauer FC was forcibly dissolved and re-established as SG Zschopau on August 10, 1945 . In 1950 with the boarding of the local motorcycle plant MZ as a carrier operating the club in BSG Motor Zschopau renamed. Despite the renowned sponsor, the Erzgebirge did not make it into the GDR league until the fall of the Berlin Wall . In the season 1989/90 Zschopau won the district league Karl-Marx-Stadt , but failed in the promotion round to the second highest league of the GDR quite clearly to Kali Werra Tiefenort and the BSV Borna .
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, SpVgg Zschopau , as the club was renamed, was integrated into the State League of Saxony . In the 1990/91 season the SpVgg won. Zschopau was the first team to win the Sachsenpokal after a 4-1 final win against the second team from Wismut Aue . The result was the qualification for the first main round in the DFB-Pokal , in which Zschopau was already defeated in the first round after a 2: 3 home defeat against Rot-Weiß Hasborn-Dautweiler . In 1995 he was relegated to the district league. At the same time it was renamed Zschopauer FC . In the period that followed, the ZFC was unable to return to higher-class football. After the bankruptcy in 2005, the association was re-established under its old name Motor Zschopau . The march through from the second district class to the district class was successful. The current division is the Kreisliga A Erzgebirge Ost.
