Bert Goebel (born July 14, 1963 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former German swimmer .

Career

Bert Goebel took his first athletic steps at SSV Rheydt . At the age of 10, he was the first German youth champion over 200 m chest in Fulda in 1973. In the following years he was repeatedly in the youth team of the German Swimming Association . His national and international career began when he switched to TSV Bayer Dormagen and did his military service with the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in Warendorf.

Bert Goebel became German champion in the 100 m chest in a new German record time in 1986 and in 1987 .

In 1985, 1987 and 1989 he took part in the European Swimming Championships.

At the 1986 World Championships in Madrid, Bert Goebel won silver with Frank Hoffmeister , Michael Groß and André Schadt in the 4 × 100 m layer relay.

Bert Goebel ended his active career as a swimmer in Berlin at Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 .

Bert Goebel lives today as a freelance software developer in Berlin .
