The VfB Glückauf Oelsnitz is a German football club from Oelsnitz / Erzgeb. Home of the VfB is the Glückauf Stadium, which can seat 1,000 spectators. In the past, the club was a company sports association in the Lugau-Oelsnitzer hard coal district , the sponsoring company was the hard coal works in Germany .
society
VfB Glückauf was founded in 1945 under the name SG Oelsnitz . The sports community already competed in 1948 for a season in the State League Saxony, which at that time was the highest division of the SBZ with other East German state leagues . The SGO had no chance against the teams of SG Planitz or SG Lauter and was relegated as the penultimate.
The Ore Mountains failed to qualify for the Karl-Marx-Stadt district league, founded in 1952, but they succeeded in 1958 when the coal plant joined the company. The BSG now appeared as an activist "Grube Deutschland" Oelsnitz (later also BMK Oelsnitz) and held the district league until 1967 for a total of seven seasons. Following riots by fans of the Revierverein in the sixties, site bans that sometimes lasted for weeks were imposed. The greatest success was the relay win in the 1962/63 season, in the final of the district championship Oelsnitz Motor Zschopau was defeated , and missed the possible promotion to the 2nd GDR league . Grube Deutschland won the only title in 1959 with the district cup. In the associated qualification for the FDGB Cup, the Saxons lost 2: 5 at Lokomotive Weimar in the first round .
Subsequently, Oelsnitz sank into local West Saxon football. After reunification, the names were changed to Union Oelsnitz and Glückauf Oelsnitz . Since then, the club has played without exception in the regional division.
In 2012, the soccer department of SV Neuoelsnitz, also based in Oelsnitz, joined Glückauf Oelsnitz. In this context, the Oelsnitz soccer club was founded.
