Soccer career

Karl Marx City

Ahnert came in 1954 at the age of 18 from BSG Motor Limbach-Oberfrohna to BSG Chemie Karl-Marx-Stadt. He played his first league game as a left runner on October 31, 1954 in the encounter on the 9th match day rotation Babelsberg - BSG Chemie (1: 2). His first league season 1954/55 he completed with 17 missions. On April 11, 1954, he was one of the players who played the first international game for the GDR junior national team. In the 3-1 win over France at the UEFA youth tournament in Germany, Ahnert played as the left runner, just like his home team. Overall, he was used in six junior internationals. In 1956 he played an international match in the GDR youth team. In the 1956 and 1957 seasons, Ahnert was absent from the point games of the Karl-Marx-Städter in only one game in 1956 and, as a relatively young player, had won a regular place in the top division of the GDR at an early stage. His first of later a total of five upper leagues he scored May 27, 1956 in the game SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt - SC Einheit Dresden (1: 1). For his team, which has now been integrated into the Karl-Marx-Städter Sportklub, he scored the opening goal in the 36th minute. In 1957, SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt was relegated from the league, which was the reason for Ahnert to switch to the league club SC Motor Jena after 68 league games with four goals scored.

Jena

Ahnert was also able to assert himself as a regular player in Jena and played 43 of the 52 point games played in the seasons 1958 and 1959. He was mainly used in defense. Ahnert kept his regular place until the end of the 1961/62 season. On October 7, 1960 , he won the GDR soccer cup with SC Motor Jena. In the 3-2 win over SC Empor Rostock, he played on the position of right defender. In the competition for the 1961/62 European Cup Winners' Cup , in which Jena advanced to the quarter-finals, he played seven of the eight games played. In the 1962/63 season, Ahnert initially only completed the first ten point games again as a left runner, after which he had to pause for a long time. When he came back to the team on the last match day, SC Motor Jena was already the GDR champions. In the following seasons 1963/64 and 1964/65 he was only used sporadically in the league, so that he only came to 22 point games in these two years. He also missed the two European Cup games against Dinamo Bucharest in 1963. In autumn 1965 it seemed as if Ahnert could play his way back into the Jena team, but again after ten straight games threw him back an injury. It was not until March 1966 that he returned to the league for the rest of the season, where Jena was now playing as FC Carl Zeiss. 1966/67 Ahnert played his last league games. On the 1st, 2nd and 6th matchday the now 30-year-old was called up again as a left defender. His last league game was the match between FC Carl Zeiss and BFC Dynamo (1: 3) on September 24, 1966. It was his 192nd competitive game for Jena, including 144 league appearances in which he was successful with one goal.

Ahnert remained a member of FC Carl Zeiss Jena. From August 1974 to February 1980 he held the position of chairman of the Jena club.
