Dieter Schüßler (born November 7, 1946 ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Schüßler began his footballing career in 1956 in the student team of the BSG Progress Limbach-Oberfrohna . His talent was quickly recognized. At the age of 17 he made his first appearances in the men's team of this company sports association . The higher-class teams in GDR football also became aware of him. His further path did not lead him to a football club , but the BSG Wismut Aue became his footballing home with a short break for around a decade and a half - from 1974 to 1978 even as captain of the three-time GDR champions .

The midfielder made his debut on August 21, 1965 in the district derby against SC Karl-Marx-Stadt for the 0-1 defeated Wismut-Elf in the top division of the GDR . In 16 seasons Dieter Schüßler was active for the violets in the league, in which twice rank 6 ( 1965/66 and 1975/76 ) represented the best table placement at the end of the season. In October 1980 the engineering economist ran against the HFC Chemie for the last time for the Auer in a championship game. Before the second half of the game year 1980/81 , the home game Wismut against Dynamo Dresden (3: 1), Ete , his nickname in the Otto-Grotewohl-Stadion , was officially adopted.

At the end of his career he recorded 277 appearances for Wismut Aue in the league, in which he scored 23 goals. The 1.68 meter tall footballer is 64th among the top league record players. In the FDGB Cup he was used in 37 games in the Auer jersey (13 hits). At the European Cup the Erzgebirger did not participate during Schuessler's active career in the first team, but the Auer chroniclers recorded for him 94 missions in international friendlies.

As part of his service in the National People's Army , Schüßler played briefly for ASV Vorwärts Leipzig in the 1966/67 and 1967/68 seasons in the second-class league .

Further career

After the end of his competitive sports career in Aue in the winter of 1980/81, he went back to Limbach-Oberfrohna as a player -coach for BSG Progress, his former home community competing in the district class. At the end of the season 2015/16 he finished as an assistant coach at after German reunification as FSV Limbach-Oberfrohna operating under the name Association are exercised.
