Pierre Merkel (born April 25, 1989 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German soccer player with Ghanaian roots.

Career

As a player in SC 07 Idar-Oberstein , he and Davit Bakhtadze from Sportfreunde Köllerbach became the top scorer in the Oberliga Südwest with 22 goals in the 2010/11 season . Then the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig signed him. Merkel made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga on September 23, 2011 in the game against FSV Frankfurt , when he was substituted on in the closing stages of the game and immediately scored the goal to make it 1-1. In the second division season 2012/13 , the trained carpenter was promoted to the Bundesliga with Braunschweig .

For the 2013/14 season Merkel moved to the 3rd division for Halleschen FC , where he signed a two-year contract. However, he left Halle a year later and joined the regional league team VfB Oldenburg . He played a successful season for VfB and scored 13 league goals.

For the new season 2015/16 Merkel went to the Regionalliga Südwest for SV Elversberg , where he could not prevail. In January 2016, he joined the regional league competitor TSV Steinbach before moving to SC Wiedenbrück six months later . On January 1, 2018, he moved to BSG Chemie Leipzig in the Regionalliga Nordost. In summer 2018 he joined the regional division Wacker Nordhausen . For the 2019/20 season, Merkel is moving to the regional league team Berliner AK.
