Dietmar Hirsch (born December 8, 1971 in Viersen ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career as a player

Hirsch began his career in the youth department of ASV Einigkeit Süchteln . He came to Borussia Mönchengladbach via 1. FC Viersen in the 1993/94 season . There he was part of the squad that won the German Cup in 1995 , but only made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga in two years , so that in 1995 he moved to the second division for MSV Duisburg . There he became a regular player and rose with the MSV in the first year. In 1998 he was with Duisburg in the DFB Cup final against Bayern Munich , which they lost 2-1.

In 2000, Hirsch went to SpVgg Unterhaching and a year later to Hansa Rostock , where he played in the Bundesliga for another two years. In 2003 he returned to Duisburg , but was only twice on the pitch in the 2004/05 promotion season. For the 2005/06 season he moved to the regional league for VfB Lübeck , where he was one of the top performers. Dietmar Hirsch made 195 appearances in the Bundesliga (11 goals), 57 games in the second division (5 goals) and 98 games in the third division regional league (6 goals).

Career as a coach

In March 2008, he signed a three-year contract as sports director at VfB Lübeck. This contract was terminated by the insolvency administrator of VfB in September 2009 due to operational reasons on December 31, 2009. The reason were savings measures during the bankruptcy proceedings of the association.

After his discharge in Lübeck, Hirsch started a career as a coach. From January 2010 to June 2011, Hirsch trained SV Schackendorf , with whom he rose from the Association League to the Schleswig-Holstein League . On July 1, 2011, he took over the head coach position at FC Sylt (Schleswig-Holstein League), which he lost again after the 5th match day, according to the board of directors, because of " excessive professionalism ". So he returned to Schackendorf in January 2012. He took over the club in last place in the table and could no longer prevent relegation to the Schleswig-Holstein Association League .

After acquiring the football instructor license, Hirsch took over the third division of SV Elversberg on September 2, 2013 . After initially good results, Elversberg slipped into the table cellar during the season. After a 2-0 defeat against SpVgg Unterhaching , Hirsch was relieved of his duties on April 14, 2014.

Dietmar Hirsch was hired as a coach on September 22nd, 2015 at the regional league club VfB Oldenburg . On August 21, 2017, Dietmar Hirsch's release as coach of the Oldenburg was announced.
