Benjamin Girth (born January 31, 1992 in Magdeburg ) is a German football player . The striker is under contract with Holstein Kiel .

Career

Girth played in the youth field for Magdeburg SV Börde , 1. FC Magdeburg and RB Leipzig . After his youth he moved to the second team in Leipzig, where he made his first appearances in adult football. In July 2016 he moved to SV Meppen with whom he rose to the third division at the end of the 2016/17 season . There he not only had his first appearance in professional football in the game against the Würzburger Kickers on July 22nd , but he also scored his first goal in the third division. In July 2018 he joined second division promoted Holstein Kiel .

For the second half of the 2018/19 season he was loaned to third division club VfL Osnabrück . After Girth was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with VfL , his loan contract was extended until the end of the 2019/20 second division season . In both leagues, the Magdeburger was unable to establish himself as a regular, was often substituted and mainly served as a backup for the regular attackers Marc Heider and Marcos Álvarez . In two years Girth made 35 competitive games for VfL (11 goals, two assists) and returned to Kiel in summer 2020.
