Simon Lorenz (born March 30, 1997 in Buchen ) is a German football player .

Career

Lorenz started playing football at TSV Sulzbach together with Benedikt Gimber . He then moved to SV Schefflenz together with Gimber. Lorenz then went through the youth teams of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim together with his childhood friend Benedikt Gimber from 2009 , where he was in the 2016 final of the German A-Juniors championship . For the 2016/17 season he moved up to the squad of the second team and came there in the following year and a half to 52 appearances (7 goals) in the Regionalliga Südwest as well as an assignment for the professionals in the Europa League game against Ludogorez Razgrad on December 7, 2017. Lorenz was last captain of the second team.

On January 31, 2018, Lorenz moved to VfL Bochum , where he was trusted to make the leap to the 2nd Bundesliga, and signed a contract until June 30, 2020. Lorenz was not able to assert himself as hoped and stayed in the second half of the second division season 2017/18 without use.

For the 2018/19 season, Lorenz moved to the 3rd division at TSV 1860 Munich on loan , based on a recommendation from his former youth and then head coach of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Julian Nagelsmann . He completed 37 of 38 possible league games and was twelfth with the team.

After his return to the Ruhr area, Lorenz was a regular player in the central defense in the first half of the season, but subsequently lost his place to Maxim Leitsch and was only used occasionally; Even before the end of the season, Bochum announced that it had not extended its expiring contract.

For the 2020/21 season , the defensive player will move to Holstein Kiel within the league . He received a three-year contract on the fjord.
