Schelmenkopf-Falkenstein

The Schelmenkopf-Falkenstein nature reserve is located in the Donnersbergkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The approximately 63.5 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1985 , extends northwest of the local community of Falkenstein . The district road K 37 runs not far to the east. The Falkensteiner Bach flows through the southern part of the area.
The protection purpose is the preservation of the area in its entirety, in particular the dry and semi- arid grasslands , the rocky and humid areas as well as the transition zones between wooded and non-wooded areas as locations of rare endangered plant species and plant communities as well as habitats and partial habitats of rare animal species scientific reasons.
