history
A village called Abancourt with a parish church (Saint-André) existed about a kilometer north of the church of Saumont on the banks of the Epte until the French Revolution . In 1823 Abnacourt was attached to Saumont-la-Poterie.
The Abnecourt called feud is not detectable before 1220th From then on it was owned by "Gilo de Hosdenc" (Hodeng), mentioned in the list of fiefs in Normandy by the Bishop of Senlis for Philippe Auguste . Gilo de Hosdenc owned several fiefs in the Pays de Bray . Several documents from the 16th to the 18th centuries mention the Abnacourt fief and adjoining fiefs.
In 1043 today's Saumont was mentioned as "Seiwaltmont", it could have come from the Anglo-Saxon "Saewald" and was founded by English and Danish settlers up to the 10th century.
