history

In the 19th century, artefacts from the Gallo-Roman period were found during excavations .

In 1059 Foucarment was first mentioned as Fulcardi Montent . Henri I. d'Eu (around 1075–1140) founded the monastery of Foucarmont in 1130 and became a monk there. At the time, the medieval city had market halls, a leper colony , a hospice, a stately court, a prison and a church. In 1201 Philip II of France (1165–1223) took the place.

During the Second World War (1939-1945) the town center, including the church, was destroyed by bombardment by several Boeing B-17s , with over 20 Foucarmontois (residents) being killed. The actual target was probably near Fieseler Fi 103 ramps in the Foucarmont forest. The town center was rebuilt later.
