Gueutteville-les-Grès is a French municipality with 370 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-Maritime in the region Normandy . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dieppe , the canton of Saint-Valery-en-Caux and is part of the Côte d'Albâtre municipal association .

Toponymy
The place was mentioned as a Guttavilla in 1035 . The addition Grès related to the mining of sandstone by a quarry in the area, the supplement has been known since 1282, indicating a former industrial degradation.
history
A charter from 1035 mentions that the powerful Estouteville family owned the land of Gueurteville at that time. The register of the bailiwicks of the Bailiwick of Caux from 1503 reports several fiefdoms in the parish of Gueuteville.
Two brothers (Cartenet) founded a bell foundry in 1829 , which operated until the end of the 19th century. Much of the bells in Seine-Maritime came from this small foundry.
Up until the end of the 19th century, Gueutteville lived primarily from traditional agriculture , breeding and weaving and the mining of sandstone.
