Neufchatel-en-Bray is a French commune with 4737 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Seine-Maritime in the region Normandy ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Dieppe and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Neufchâtel-en-Bray . The inhabitants are called Neufchâtelois .
geography
Neufchâtel-en-Bray is located in the Pays de Bray on the river Béthune . Neufchâtel-en-Bray is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lucy in the north, Ménonval in the northeast, Neuville-Ferrières in the southeast, Quièvrecourt in the southwest and Saint-Martin-l'Hortier in the northwest.
The A28 autoroute as well as the former national routes 28 , 29 and 314 run through the municipality .
history
In the 11th century the place was known as Drincourt . In 1472 the place was destroyed by Charles le Téméraire (Charles the Bold) .
