It belongs to the Arrondissement Dieppe and the canton of Luneray (until 2015 canton of Bacqueville-en-Caux ). The inhabitants are called Sassetotais .

Sassetot-le-Malgardé is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tocqueville-en-Caux in the north, Biville-la-Rivière in the east, Saâne-Saint-Just in the south-east, Gonnetot in the south and Bretteville-Saint-Laurent in the west and south-west.
