Gasoline mechanical powered railcar Renault type NF of the CFY in Courgenay

The Renault type NF are small two-axle gasoline-mechanical one-way railcars (autorail) that were ordered in 1924 and delivered in 1925. They are a further development of the Renault Type KA from 1922. Compared to the Type KA, they had an axle base reduced to 3.6 meters and should therefore still be able to be turned on the existing turntables.

history

The two meter-gauge railcars supplied under the type designation NF had a passenger compartment for 24 people in face-to-face seating with a 2 + 2 seat arrangement. The compartment was reached via a closed platform that was located between the single driver's cab and the compartment. A gasoline engine with an output of 45 hp, arranged in the manner known from cab- over-engine buses , drove the rear axle via a mechanical gearbox and cardan shafts. This enabled the 7.3-ton railcar to reach a top speed of 45 km / h.

One of the two railcars was delivered with the number 1 to the overland tramway Pontarlier – Mouthe , French Tramway Pontarlier – Mouthe (PM), the later Doubs-Bahn , French Chemins de Fer du Doubs (CFD).
