Jonas Meffert (born September 4, 1994 in Cologne ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with Holstein Kiel . He is mainly used in defensive midfield.

Career

Jonas Meffert's first club during his youth was TV Hoffnungsthal , for which he played until 2005. He then moved to Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen . There he went through all youth teams. On November 17, 2012 he played for the second team of Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the first time.

Less than a week later he made his professional debut when he came on for Stefan Reinartz in the 65th minute of the Europa League game against Metalist Kharkiv . In the 2013/14 season Meffert was a permanent member of the professional squad.

For the 2014/15 season Meffert moved to the second division club Karlsruher SC . He signed a contract until June 30, 2017, with Bayer 04 Leverkusen securing a buyback option for the end of June 2016. On April 16, 2016, the 30th matchday of the 2015/16 season, Meffert scored his first goal for KSC in a 2-1 home win against 1. FC Nürnberg at an interim 1: 1 in the 43rd minute of the game.

On April 18, 2016, he announced that he wanted to leave Karlsruher SC one year in advance by the end of June 2017, despite a contract, in order to play in the first division from the next season. On May 2, 2016, Bayer 04 Leverkusen announced that they would activate the previously agreed buyback option in Meffert's contract and sign the player on July 1. Despite this commitment, Leverkusen sold Meffert to the new Bundesliga club SC Freiburg for the new season . During the winter break of 2016/17 he was loaned back to Karlsruher SC by SC Freiburg.

For the 2018/19 season Meffert moved to the second division Holstein Kiel , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2021. Just a year later, his contract was extended to 2022.

Meffert played eleven international matches for the youth teams of the DFB from 2009 to 2013 .
