Student dormitory and student union administration AStA on Lodyweg

The Lodyweg in Hanover was laid out around 1935. It connects the Jägerstrasse in the north of the city with the Hänischbrücke at the level of the street Am Moritzwinkel . Also at the time of National Socialism , the street was named after the first lieutenant Carl Hans Lody (1877-1914).

After the Second World War , the student dormitory , also known as the Red Cross Home, was built on Lodyweg by 1953 according to plans by the architect and government building officer Paul Wolters , which was to temporarily accommodate so-called “young workers” in addition to students. The 1950s ensemble was awarded the Laves Prize . The decision of the jury said:

"The house is easily integrated into the park landscape with good design of the building dimensions and details."
