Jorge Jonathan Espericueta Escamilla (born August 9, 1994 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ) is a Mexican football player who predominantly acts in midfield .

career

Espericueta began his career in the youth division of his home club UANL Tigres , where he also received his first professional contract in early 2012 .

In June and July 2011 Espericueta was one of the most important players in the 2011 U-17 World Cup held in his own country , where he was awarded the “Silver Ball” as the second best player in the tournament and together with the other two winners Julio Gómez (Golden Ball) and Carlos Fierro (Bronze Ball) won the world title for the second time in the history of Mexico's U-17 national team .

Espericueta spent 2014 on loan in the B-team of the Spanish club Villarreal . At the end of 2014 he returned to the Tigres, with whom he won the Mexican football championship in the 2015 Apertura . His active participation in this success was limited to a 78-minute stint in the 0-1 at Monarcas Morelia on August 1, 2015. Also in the Copa Libertadores 2015 , in which the Tigres reached the finals against the Argentine record champions CA River Plate ( and lost 0-0 and 0-3), Espericueta was hardly used, but at least scored a goal in the 5-4 win in the last group game at Juan Aurich .

In the Tigres championship title in the Apertura 2016 , however, Espericueta was not used for the first team and was therefore not part of the championship squad.
