Atlético San Luis is a Mexican football club from San Luis Potosí , the capital of the state of the same name .

history

After San Luis FC, who played in the first division , did not have the necessary support from sponsors, the state government and spectators due to unsatisfactory results in recent years, its license was sold to Chiapas on May 20, 2013 to play first-division football receive. Because previously the license of the Jaguares de Chiapas had been transferred to the sporting relegated Gallos Blancos de Querétaro in order to spare this club the descent.

On May 27, 2013 it was confirmed by the league that the team of Tiburones Rojos Veracruz was transferred to San Luis Potosí to allow the city a starting place in the second division . There the team will start in the Apertura 2013 under the name Atlético San Luis .

Under the same name, a team already played in the third-class Segunda División in the 1998/99 season , which was launched by the club Santos del San Luis playing in the fourth-class Tercera División .

Due to the opaque situation, it is currently not possible to determine with certainty whether there is any connection between the former Atlético and the club that is now starting in the second division or whether the founders of the new club have simply adopted its previous name. At least, however, in the hope of being able to win over the fans of the previous San Luis FC and to achieve their identification with the new club, its blue and gold club colors were initially adopted, as can be seen on the logo shown below. Then, however, the logo was changed on July 1, 2013 and is now in the colors blue and white.
