Raffael Zeder (born August 10, 1980 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss football referee and assistant referee . It belongs to the Region of the Inner Swiss Football Association and is in the top Swiss football -Spielklasse, the Super League and in international matches used.
Career
Without having previously played football as a club himself, Raffael Zeder passed the exam to become a football referee in 1997, as he explains himself, out of “Joy of Football”; he saw this activity as a "personal challenge".
After initially having to work his way up through the lowest divisions, he was able to qualify for the 2nd interregional league (fourth highest level) in 2002, where he made his debut on October 26, 2002 in the game between FC Nordstern Basel and FC Aarberg . Just one year later he made it to the first division (fourth highest level), where he was used for the first time on August 10, 2003 in the match between BSC Young Boys U-21 and FC Colombier .
From the 2004/05 season Zeder was able to qualify as assistant referee for the Challenge League (second highest division), where he had his first appearance on August 28, 2004 in the game AC Lugano against FC Baulmes (5-1). After the referee observers rewarded his good performance, Zeder was allowed to play in the Axpo Super League from the 2005/06 season . There he made his debut on July 23, 2005 as assistant to referee Claudio Circhetta in the game between FC Aarau and FC St. Gallen (1: 4).
Before doing this, however, he had to decide whether he would like to continue his career as a referee or as an assistant referee. Zeder chose that of the assistant and was successful, because from 2005 he was also used in international games. On July 28, 2005 he came in the UEFA Cup - also at the side of referee Claudio Circhetta, with whom he initially formed a team - the game Viking Stavanger against FC Portadown (1-0) for the first time abroad. On January 1, 2007, Zeder was nominated for the squad of Swiss FIFA assistants , to which he has been a member since then. On February 7, 2007, he was allowed to wear the FIFA crest for the first time as assistant to referee Claudio Circhetta in a friendly between Luxembourg and Gambia (2-1).
