Souleymane Coulibaly (born December 26, 1994 ) is an Ivorian football player .
Career
In 2009, Coulibaly moved from the civil war-torn Ivory Coast to Italy and followed his father, who married a local there. The then 14-year-old played a little later at a regional youth tournament in Arezzo , where he was discovered by the scouts of AC Siena. Despite doubts from outsiders, the club immediately signed him - and can boast of the discovery of a jewel. Coulibaly scored 13 goals in 17 games in the Campionato Allievi Nazionali , the national U-16 championship. His coach at the time, Colonello, called him "one of the best in Italy".
In July 2011, Coulibaly moved to the English first division club Tottenham Hotspur for the equivalent of around 1.75 million euros . The first half of 2013 he played on loan in the Italian Serie B at US Grosseto . For the 2013/14 season Coulibaly returned to Tottenham, but could not prevail among the professionals.
For the 2014/15 season, Coulibaly moved to the Italian second division club FC Bari 1908 . The season he will, however, play with the third division promoted US Pistoiese .
National team career
At the U-17 World Cup in Mexico in 2011 , Coulibaly attracted worldwide attention with outstanding performances: he scored nine times in four games. In particular, his hat trick against Brazil made some top clubs aware of the young Ivorian. He has been associated with Real Madrid and Manchester United , among others .
Trivia
He is often compared to his compatriot Didier Drogba , and many experts see him as his successor. However, the two are completely different types of players: Drogba lives more from his physique and his header game, while the smaller Coulibaly is a fast technician. Therefore, Coulibaly does not call Drogba, but the former Hanoverian Didier Ya Konan as his role model.
He often takes the opportunity at press conferences to draw attention to the grievances in his home country and to appeal to those responsible for a peaceful solution.
