In October 2009 he moved to third division club Southampton FC , for which he scored 3 goals in 28 league games.

The 2011/12 season spent the 21-year-old Antonio first on loan at third division Colchester United , before he was loaned to Sheffield Wednesday in the second half of the season. For the club, which also played in the third-rate Football League One 2011/12 , he scored 5 goals in 14 games and rose with the club as runner-up in the second division.
