Diop was born in Toulouse. Diop made his Ligue 1 debut on November 28, 2015 against OGC Nice (2-0). He also plays for the French U-21 national team .

On June 19, 2018, Diop moved to West Ham United for $ 25 million and signed a five-year deal.
