Robert Snodgrass (born September 7, 1987 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player . He is under contract with West Ham United and is active for the Scottish national team .
Player career
Livingston FC (2004-2008)
Robert Snodgrass started his professional career in the 2004/05 season at the Scottish first division club Livingston FC , for which he had previously been active in youth. He scored two goals in sixteen league games in his first season and finished the season in tenth and thus third from bottom. The Scottish Premier League 2005/06 brought for the club a further deterioration and relegation as bottom of the table in the second division. In the second half of the First Division 2006/07, the previously barely considered Snodgrass moved to the third division Stirling Albion and scored five goals in twelve games by the end of the season. In the play-off final for promotion to the second division, he scored two goals in the final against Airdrie United in a 3-2 win in the second leg. Since Livingston FC had in the meantime missed the return to the first division, Snodgrass (31 games / 9 goals) played again in the First Division in 2007/08 and once again missed promotion in seventh place.
Leeds United (2008-2012)
On July 25, 2008, the 20-year-old Snodgrass moved to the English third division club Leeds United , who was coached by Scottish coach Gary McAllister , and signed a three-year contract. After coach McAllister was sacked in December 2008, Simon Grayson took over the club and led Leeds to fourth in the play-offs. There the team around Snodgrass (42 games / 9 goals) failed in the first round at Millwall FC . The 2009/10 season was more successful for the club with the runner-up behind Norwich City , which led to direct promotion to the second-rate Football League Championship . As a newcomer, Leeds also played successfully in the 2010/11 Championship and, in seventh place, missed the play-offs by just one place. Robert Snodgrass scored six goals in thirty-seven league games.
Scottish National Team (2011-2012)
After his participation in the U-19 European Football Championship 2006 in Poland, in which Scotland only had to admit defeat to Spain in the final , Snodgrass was also nominated for the Scottish squad for the U-20 World Cup 2007 in Canada. The team trained by Archie Gemmill , however, was eliminated after the preliminary round as bottom of the table. After two international matches for the U-20s in 2008, he made his debut on February 9, 2011 in a 3-0 win against Northern Ireland in the Scottish national team. Half a year later he scored his first goal in the game against Denmark in a 2-1 home win.
