Robert Kramer

Robert Kramer (born June 22, 1939 in New York City , New York , † November 10, 1999 in Rouen , France ) was an American documentary filmmaker , actor and screenwriter .

Life

Kramer studied philosophy and Western European history at Swarthmore College and Stanford University . In the 1960s he belonged to the radical left. In 1967 he was one of the founders of the film collective " Newsreel ". In 1969, Kramer shot People's War with Norman Fruchter and John Douglas in North Vietnam . In 1970 the negative utopia Ice visualized the fears of the radical left of a new fascism, impressively symbolized in the castration of a revolutionary.

Kramer had lived in Europe since the early 1980s.
