Margrit Klinger (born June 22, 1960 in Hönebach , Hessen ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant. Her greatest sporting success was winning the bronze medal in the 800 meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1982 .

Life

Klinger grew up as one of seven siblings in Wildeck -Hönebach. She completed an apprenticeship as a specialist assistant in tax and economic issues and has been working in the administration of the district hospital in Bad Hersfeld since 1979 . Klinger lives in Wildeck- Obersuhl .

Career

Margrit Klinger was mainly successful in the 800-meter run in the 1980s. In 1980 , 1981 , 1982 , 1984 , 1985 and 1987 she became German champion in the 800-meter run, and in 1984 also German champion in the 1500-meter run . When she won the bronze medal in the 800-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1982 , she ran a new German record with a time of 1: 57.22 minutes. In the course of the World Athletics Championships in 1983 Margrit Klinger finished fourth in 1: 58.11 minutes, at the 1983 European Cup final she was third. The following year she started at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and reached seventh place over 800 meters.

Margrit Klinger belonged to the sports club TV Obersuhl . During her competition time she was 1.67 m tall and 55 kg.
