European Athletics Cup 1983
9. Athletics - European Cup The athletics stadium in Crystal Palace , a district of London |
---|
The 9th European Athletics Cup Super League Final took place on August 20 and 21, 1983 at the Crystal Palace National Sports Center in London ( United Kingdom ) and comprised 35 competitions (20 men, 15 women).
Règlement
In 1983 there was a restructuring, as the number of international competitions had already increased so much that the cup had to gather all teams on one weekend. The highest level of the new cup was now called the Superliga and consisted of eight men's and eight women's teams. The 1st and 2nd leagues followed, which were divided into groups A and B, respectively. Promotion and relegation positions replace promotion through preceding semi-finals and final rounds. This classification existed until the end of the European Cups in 2008.
