The 3rd European Athletics Cup A final for women took place on August 22, 1970 in the Népstadion in Budapest ( Hungary ) and that of the men on August 29 and 30, 1970 in the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm ( Sweden ). 31 disciplines (20 men, 13 women) were held on both dates. For women, the 1,500-meter run and the 4-by-400-meter relay were new to the program.
With the new decade, the competition cycle was increased from two to three years, but this was soon changed again.
Women and men competed again in different places.
