The 6th European Athletics Cup A final took place on August 13 and 14, 1977 in the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki ( Finland ).
35 disciplines were held (20 men, 15 women). For the women, the 3000 meter run and the 400 meter hurdles were new to the program.
The new B-final for women and men should offer the third and fourth placed in the semi-finals the opportunity to qualify for the A-final.
doping
The competitions were characterized by four doping cases, three of them in the Finnish men's team.
B final
The women's B final took place in Třinec ( Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic ) and the men's on August 6th and 7th, 1977 in Gothenburg ( Sweden ).
