Pierre Amoyal (born June 22, 1949 in Paris ) is a French violinist and conductor.

Life

At the age of twelve, Pierre Amoyal received a first prize in the violin category at the Paris Conservatory . He then studied with Jascha Heifetz in Los Angeles for five years . At the age of 22 he made his European debut with the Orchester de Paris under the direction of Georg Solti . Amoyal played under conductors such as Herbert von Karajan , Pierre Boulez and Lorin Maazel with the most famous orchestras in the world.

With the Berliner Philharmoniker under Maazel, he played the German premiere of Henri Dutilleux's violin concerto . He went down in the history of the house as the youngest professor at the Paris Conservatory. He currently teaches at the Conservatoire de Lausanne in Lausanne and directs the chamber orchestra "Camerata de Lausanne", which was founded on his initiative.

The "Kochanski" Stradivarius from 1717 plays amoyal. The instrument was stolen in 1987, but found again in 1991.
