Career
Club career
Osvaldo Fattori, born in Verona in northern Italy in 1922, began playing football at the AC Audace club , which has long since been disbanded. At Audace, the midfielder went through the youth departments before he was signed by ACIVI Vicenza in 1941 at the age of nineteen . In his first season in Vicenza , Fattori rose with his team as second in Serie B in 1941/42 , only behind AS Bari , in Serie A , which should mean the club's first jump into the top Italian division. With twelfth place you could assert yourself as a climber in Serie A 1942/43 . After that, game operations were flat for two years due to the Second World War, and regular championships were not held again until 1945. Osvaldo Fattori still wore the ACIVI Vicenza jersey after the war and stayed with the club until 1946. In the summer of 1946, Fattori joined the club Sampdoria Genoa , founded just a few days earlier, for a year , which immediately started in Serie A and finished in a respectable eleventh place in the table in its first season with Fattori in midfield. Osvaldo Fattori made 35 league appearances for Samp before switching employers again.
In 1947 Osvaldo Fattori moved to Ambrosiana-Inter for a total of seven years , where he had the most successful period of his footballing career. The first big success in the jersey of Ambrosiana-Inter landed Fattori in the 1952/53 season , when they took first place in Serie A with two points ahead of defending champion Juventus Turin . In the championship season, however, Osvaldo Fattori only made thirteen appearances in the team of coach Alfredo Foni . Starting the season as defending champion, Ambrosiana-Inter was able to defend the title in Serie A in 1953/54 . This time they were even closer to their pursuers Juventus Turin at the end of all match days, this time with only one point. Fattori himself had a slightly larger share in the championship this time, after all, he was able to book twenty appearances over the season. Nevertheless, Osvaldo Fattori left Ambrosiana-Inter after the end of the 1953/54 season. Previously, he had made 178 league games with seven goals for the Milanese in seven years.
His last career station led Osvaldo Fattori from 1954 to 1959 at AC Brescia . Every five years spent there Fattori in the second-rate series B . He came to 87 league games with seven goals. In the summer of 1959, Osvaldo Fattori finally ended his footballing career at the age of 37. Fattori had already been active as a coach for AC Brescia from 1955 to the spring of 1959, parallel to his playing activities. Fattori also coached other teams later, such as Marzotto Valdagno from 1959 to 1961 , Sambenedettese Calcio from 1961 to 1962 and AS Solbiatese from 1968 to 1970 .
National team
In 1949 and 1950 Osvaldo Fattori made a total of four international matches in the Italian national football team . From national coach Ferruccio Novo he was appointed to the southern European squad for the 1950 World Cup in Brazil . At the tournament Fattori was used once, in the second group game of the Italian team against Paraguay , which Italy won 2-0 with goals from Riccardo Carapellese and Egisto Pandolfini . However, since the first game against Sweden was lost before , the Italian selection dropped out of this World Cup as runners-up in the group after the preliminary round.
