Alain Couderc

Alain Couderc (born June 22, 1947 in Bordeaux ; † April 13, 2020 there ) was a French racing car driver .

Racing career

Monoposto

The Monopostokarriere of Couderc began in 1973 in the Formula Renault , where he remained active until 1978 in the Eurocup. In 1973 he was on a Martini Mk11 behind René Arnoux and Patrick Tambay third overall in the then still young championship. In 1974 (overall winner Didier Pironi ) he was overall seventh and in 1975 (champion René Arnoux again) overall eighth of this championship.

In addition to appearances in the French Formula 3 championship and the Formula 2 European championship , Couderc drove a race in the Aurora AFX Formula 1 series in 1979 . During the race on the Circuit Paul Armagnac he drove an AGS JH15 , but retired after a clutch damage.

Sports car racing

In addition to the starts in the monoposto, Alain Couderc competed five times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . He made his debut in 1973 for Automobiles Ligier on a JS2 that had to be parked after an engine failure. Team partner was Jean-Pierre Paoli , with whom he drove a Ferrari 365 GTB / 4 Competizione for the North American Racing Team the following year . The best place in the final classification was the 16th place in 1983 together with Pascal Fabre and Roger Dorchy in the World Championship P83 of Welter Racing .
