Nicolas Naaman

Nicolas Naaman SMSP (born June 22, 1911 in Damascus ; † August 20, 1982 ) was an archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Bosra and Hauran in Syria .

Life

Nicolas Naaman was ordained a priest on August 15, 1937 and is a member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul (SMSP). He received his appointment as Archbishop of Bosra and Hauran on August 23, 1967 and succeeded Pierre Chami . Archbishop Mikhayl Assaf of Petra and Philadelphia ( Jordan ) gave him on October 8, 1967 episcopal ordination , he assisted the co-consecrators Archbishop Paul Achkar and Archbishop Joseph Elias Tawil . Naaman was archbishop for over 14 years and was co-consecrator to Archbishop Habib Bacha , his successor was Archbishop Boulos Nassif Borkhoche .

Honors

The Lebanese publicist and publisher Naji Naaman donated the "Archbishop Nicolas Naaman's Prize for human virtues" on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Nicolas Naaman's death in 2007 ( de : Archbishop Nicolas Naaman Prize for Human Virtues)
