Pierre Chami
Pierre Chami , also Peter Shami SMSP (born December 17, 1890 in Joun near Sidon , Lebanon , † August 19, 1967 ) was Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Bosra and Hauran in Syria .
Life
On June 29, 1922, Pierre Chami was ordained as a religious priest of the Melkite Paulists . On November 13, 1943, he was appointed to succeed Nicolas Cadi as Archbishop of Bosra and Hauran. He was ordained bishop on October 24, 1944 by the Melkite Patriarch of Antioch Cyril IX Mogabgab; Co-consecrators were the Bishops Dionysios Kfoury , Patriarchal Vicar for Egypt and Sudan, and Pierre Kamel Medawar SMSP, Auxiliary Bishop in the Patriarchate of Antioch. He attended the first and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council(1962–1965) participated. Nicolas Naaman SMSP has been appointed as his successor .
