The 2018 Mediterranean Games ( officially the XVIIIth Mediterranean Games) took place from June 22nd to July 1st, 2018 in the Spanish city of Tarragona . The candidacy prevailed on October 15, 2011 against the application from Alexandria (Egypt).
The program included competitions in 28 sports. The Nou Estadi was chosen as the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies. On the other hand, the sports infrastructures were distributed in 16 other municipalities, 14 of them in the province of Tarragona and two in Barcelona. A total of 30 different venues for 36 sports disciplines and ceremonies were assigned.

At the 2018 Mediterranean Games, there were 244 decisions in 28 sports, 129 of them for men, 113 for women and two for mixed teams in riding. Among them were three decisions in disabled sports . These were the athletics competition in class T54 in the 800-meter run for women and the swimming competitions in class S10 over 100 meters freestyle for men and women.
