Hans Jacob Rietmann

Hans Jacob Rietmann (born June 5, 1677 in St. Gallen ; † June 22, 1756 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Hans Jacob Rietmann was the son of Jacob Rietmann (* 1633 in St. Gallen; † 1708 ibid), Vogt , and his wife Dorothea Leu (* 1638; † unknown) from Bischofszell .

As a white and raw viewer (quality control) he was a member of the weavers' guild and was elected as a 911 in 1720. From 1721 to 1725 he was guild master and from 1725 to 1729 sub-mayor.

From 1729 to 1740 he held the offices of mayor, former mayor and imperial bailiff every three years, alternating with David Stähelin (1673-1750) and Christoph Hochreutiner (1662-1742); He then held the offices in the same rotation until 1752, alternating with Friedrich Girtanner (1674–1753) and Kaspar von Fels (1668–1752) and until 1755 with Johannes Vonwill and Caspar Bernet .

Hans Jacob Rietmann was married to Katharina Ronner (* unknown; † 1721 in St. Gallen) from Teufen in his first marriage since 1701 ; the sons are known by name:

  • Jacob Rietmann (7 May 1702 - 20 May 1782), captain in the St. Jacob quarter , married to Maria Scheitlin (1701 - 1754) and Anna Barbara Hochreutiner (1700 - 1754) 1781)
  • Pankraz Rietmann (* June 24, 1706 in St. Gallen; † June 25, 1775 ibid), took over the captain's post from his brother in 1767, first married to Euphrosina (* 1712 in St. Gallen; † 1768 ibid), a daughter of Anton Scheitlin (1682–1745), and her second marriage to Maria Scheiwiler (* 1712; † 1771), the widow of Hans Wild.

In his second marriage he was with Weibratha (* January 5, 1664 - † February 10, 1738), daughter of Ulrich Weyermann, mayor, and in the third marriage with Elsbetha (* 1678; † 1754), daughter of Hans Georg Zollikofer, pharmacist, married.
