Caspar Bernet (also Kaspar Bernet ; born January 9, 1698 in St. Gallen ; † September 29, 1766 ibid) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Caspar Bernet was the son of his father of the same name Caspar Bernet (* November 20, 1668 - November 6, 1742), weaver and sub-mayor of St. Gallen, and his wife Elisabeth (* December 7, 1666 - September 14, 1711), a daughter of Christian Huber, born. His half-brother was Hans Joachim Bernet , Mayor of St. Gallen.

He was a canvas weaver and rose through various guild offices to the mayor's office, which he held from 1754 to 1759, alternating annually with Hans Jacob Rietmann (1677-1756) in 1755, Daniel Högger in 1756 and Christoph Wegelin (1688-1774) in 1758 exercised; Before that, he was appointed to the public office of raw viewer (quality control) in 1734, that of raw viewer in 1737, was elected to the Great Council in 1743 and as a guild master and sub-mayor in 1745; In 1748 he was fiefdom bearer of St. Catharina .
