Robert Wehgartner

Robert Wehgartner (born June 22, 1909 in Neu-Ulm , † January 2, 1974 in Munich ) was a German politician of the Bavarian Party and the CSU . From 1962 to 1966 he was State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior , from 1963 to 1966 he was chairman of the Bavarian Party.

Life

After studying law in Munich , Cologne , Berlin and Würzburg , Wehgartner worked in the legal department of the Bavarian Raiffeisenbank from 1931 to 1939. After military service and imprisonment, he entered the public service in Upper Bavaria .

In 1954 he became the personal assistant to the Bavarian Minister of the Interior , August Geislhöringer . From 1957 to 1962 he was government director in the Bavarian representation at the federal government.

In 1962 he became the only member of the Bavarian Party government in the Goppel I cabinet as State Secretary . In 1963 Wehgartner was also elected chairman of the Bavarian party. After he was voted out of office as party leader in May 1966, he joined the CSU on July 20, 1966. This effectively ended the coalition of the CSU and BP. After the state elections in November 1966 , he was no longer appointed to the state government.

From 1967 until his death he was President of the Bavarian Insurance Chamber.
