State election in Bavaria 1966
The state election in Bavaria in 1966 took place on November 20, 1966. It was the election for the 6th electoral term of the Bavarian State Parliament . The turnout was 80.6%.
Starting point and result
There was a 10% threshold at the district level , i.e. H. a party had to achieve 10% of the valid votes in at least one of the districts in order to enter the state parliament.
In this election, the NPD moved into the Bavarian state parliament for the first - and so far only - time. The Bavarian Party and the FDP missed their entry into the state parliament for the first time.
As in the 1962 election, Prime Minister Alfons Goppel (CSU) and the SPD parliamentary group leader Volkmar Gabert again applied for the office of Prime Minister.
Although the SPD achieved its best result to date in a Bavarian state election with 35.8%, it could not prevent the CSU from defending its absolute majority of the mandates.
The CSU therefore formed a sole government under the leadership of Alfons Goppel ( Goppel II cabinet ).
