State election in Bavaria 1970
The election for the 7th Bavarian State Parliament took place on November 22, 1970. The turnout was 79.5%.
Starting point and result
There was a ten percent threshold at the district level , i.e. In other words, a party had to achieve ten percent of the valid votes in at least one of the districts in order to enter the state parliament.
This was the first state election since 1946 in which the CSU received more than 50 percent of the vote. She also succeeded in the following eight state elections from 1974 to 2003 .
The SPD parliamentary group chairman Volkmar Gabert failed in this election for the third time in his goal of replacing Prime Minister Alfons Goppel .
