Joseph Panholzer
Joseph Panholzer , also Josef (born March 21, 1895 in Weilheim , Upper Bavaria , † March 29, 1973 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and politician ( BP , BSP ).
Life
After graduating from high school in 1914 at the Ettal Abbey Humanist High School , Panholzer studied philosophy and law . After the First World War he worked as a lawyer and was chairman of the “Peace Association of German Catholics”. He was excluded from the legal profession by the National Socialists in 1937 and imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp , but was able to emigrate to France in 1939 .
From 1946 Panholzer again worked as a lawyer and was Executive Vice President of Benedictine -Abtei Ettal Abbey and legal advisor to the French Consulate General and the State Medical Association. Originally a member of the CSU , he switched to the Bavarian Party at the end of the 1940s. From 1954 to 1957 he was State Secretary in the Bavarian Ministry of Finance . From 1958 to 1966 he was a member of the state parliament for the Bavarian Party, of which he was chairman from February 22, 1959 to October 28, 1963. From 1962 to 1966 he was parliamentary group leader in the state parliament.
In 1967 Panholzer and Helmut Kalkbrenner founded the Bavarian State Party (BSP), of which he was founding chairman from September 25 to December 3, 1967.
Panholzer did not correspond to the cliché of the “tough baroque jewelery”, but was considered a sensitive, diplomatic personality. On July 3, 1959, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
